"summary": "AEMEND has elected Azhar Abbas as its new President and Tariq Mahmood as General Secretary in a recent election. The General Council of AEMEND, meeting in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, also selected the remaining members of the Executive Committee, including Zahid Mazhar, Masoom Rizvi, Mohsin Raza, Mubarak Ali, Kamran Lashari, Humayun Saleem, Muhammad Naushad Kahwaja Hasnain, and Razaq Sarohi. The council expressed deep concern over the deteriorating press freedom in Pakistan and the misuse of government powers to restrict independent journalism, particularly citing the alleged misuse of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the actions of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). AEMEND emphasized that the irresponsible actions of a few YouTubers should not justify restrictions on the media as a whole, resolving that the newly elected Executive Committee would discuss the overall media situation and issue a comprehensive statement on the association's position.",
