"summary": "Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene has resigned as head coach of the Mumbai Indians, the IPL team announced on Saturday. During his initial tenure from 2017 to 2022, Jayawardene led the team to three titles. However, his return to the coaching role in 2024 did not yield the same success, with the Mumbai Indians finishing fourth in 2025 and losing in the playoffs, before concluding the 2026 season as the second-bottom team. In a statement, Jayawardene expressed pride in the team's achievements and bid farewell, wishing the team continued success in the future.",
