"account": "On Friday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order waiving a new package of sanctions and tariffs on Russia, just before their scheduled implementation. Trump stated that the move was in the US national interest. The legislation, the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, had been signed into law in September by Trump, aiming to impose sanctions on Russian government officials, banks, and vessels in Russia's shadow fleet. It also included duties on Russian goods and imports from countries purchasing Russian oil and gas. The decision to postpone the sanctions follows criticism from Trump regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the recent agreement between Russia and the US for Russia to release diesel fuel into global markets.",
"summary": "The move to put the sanctions on hold comes amid increasing criticism from Trump of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and follows the US' diesel deal with Russia.",
