"summary": "US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday, Oct. 16, waiving sweeping sanctions and tariffs targeting Russian energy revenues. According to Channel News Asia and Dawn, the reversal follows a deal struck with Russian President Vladimir Putin to ease sanctions in exchange for Moscow releasing large amounts of diesel into global markets. The move, which targets the energy and defense sectors, President Putin, and Moscow's shadow fleet of tankers, marks a new low in diplomatic relations between Washington and Ukraine.\n\nThe executive order reverses the Lindsey Graham Act, which Trump signed into law last month and authorized duties of up to 100 percent on major buyers of Russian oil and gas. RTE News reports that Volodymyr Zelensky has experienced his worst falling out with Trump since an incident in the Oval Office 18 months ago.\n\nAs Trump's support slumps, Zelensky has urged EU leaders to continue financing Ukraine's fight with nearly $80 billion more next year. Channel News Asia and Dawn report that Zelensky made these remarks while insisting he was standing up for his country.",
