"account": "Three men were sentenced to over 158 years in prison for murdering two Australian surfers and one American friend in Mexico's Baja California state in 2024. The trio, named Jesus Gerardo, Irineo Francisco, and Angel Jesus, were charged with premeditated murder after attacking the group while they were camping near the city of Ensenada. Their bodies were found weeks later, dumped in a cliff-top well with gunshot wounds. Judge Raul Hernandez ruled the defendants acted with premeditation. The victims' families expressed relief at the verdict, stating the perpetrators will never harm anyone else. Rhoad's mother, Page, said the sentence would provide some comfort, noting her sons were treated with cruelty. The attack on the surfers drew global condemnation.",
