"summary": "The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in Kenya has engaged in high-level talks with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to strengthen regional cooperation in combating cross-border corruption and economic crime. EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud met with UNODC Executive Director Dr. Monica Juma in Vienna to discuss enhancing law enforcement capacity, expanding the use of forensic technology, and improving mutual legal assistance across Eastern Africa. The discussions emphasized the importance of effective evidence-sharing and collaboration between law enforcement agencies to tackle corruption cases that transcend national borders. Mohamud highlighted UNODC's ongoing support through programs like PLEAD and the UNODC Africa Hub in Nairobi, and sought further technical assistance and joint capacity-building initiatives. Additionally, the proposed collaboration aims to leverage UNODC's international expertise and anti-corruption tools to bolster institutional capacity and improve responses to corruption and economic crime across the region. This partnership underscores the significance of collaborations between national anti-corruption agencies and international institutions in addressing financial misconduct involving multiple jurisdictions, ultimately promoting accountability, protecting public resources, and upholding the rule of law.",
