"account": "In a tragic incident at a school in Bend, Oregon, a 16-year-old former special needs student opened fire, killing four individuals, including three children aged 5, 8, and 11, and a 25-year-old female teacher. A 25-year-old man, Kaylub Giamanco, a father of two pupils at the school, played a pivotal role in stopping the rampage. When he heard the gunfire and witnessed a teacher engaging in a physical altercation with the shooter, Giamanco rushed inside and confronted the gunman with his legally owned firearm, fatally shooting him. Before the authorities arrived, a female teacher had bravely tackled the shooter, stopping the killing spree. Police Chief Mike Krantz praised the heroism of both the teacher and Giamanco, acknowledging the rare instances of such selflessness in society. The shooting has reignited the ongoing debate on gun control laws in the United States, with the National Rifle Association (NRA) lauding the actions of the armed bystander, while gun control advocates condemned the easy accessibility of firearms in the country. This incident adds to the alarming number of school shootings in the US, with 26 reported this year, resulting in injuries or deaths, and over 360 mass shootings overall.",
