"summary": "Lincoln-Way East High School has been placed on probation for the remainder of the 2026-27 school year after an investigation by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) into two alleged racial incidents, according to a report by Yahoo Sports. The probation does not prevent the school from participating in sports or other programs, but serves as a warning that future violations could result in additional consequences. The IHSA announced the decision following an investigation that included footage of a football game where Lincoln-Way students were heard using monkey sounds and gestures to taunt Homewood-Flossmoor fans. In a separate incident, six students were expelled after voluntarily withdrawing from the school rather than face expulsion. The district has since hired a consultant for racial bias training and expressed a commitment to fostering cultural understanding among students and staff.",
