According to a statement from President Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Senate will screen all six nominees. The newly appointed national commissioners are Prof. Mustapha Aliu, who will replace Prof. Abdullahi Zuru in the North-West; Bashir Umar, who will take over from Prof. Muhammad Adamu in the North-Central; and Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, who will replace Prof. Cornelius Ajayi in the South-West, currently serving as the resident electoral commissioner in Osun State. The two resident electoral commissioners are Dr. Samuel Akinjide Akinleye, a retired permanent secretary representing Ekiti State, and Zahradden Basiru Sanusi from Jigawa State, who will succeed Prof. Saidu Ahmed Babura.
