"summary": "The FBI has reportedly issued a \"Duty to Warn\" notification to Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun regarding an imminent threat to his life. According to Dawn, Pannun stated that FBI agents visited his New York City residence to alert him to the danger, which he claims is connected to his planned travel to Canada to participate in a non-binding \"Khalistan Referendum\" in Edmonton on Oct 18. Pannun, a dual American-Canadian citizen and general counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), also reported receiving warnings from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police regarding threats to his life and his Ontario residence.\n\nDaily Times reports that FBI officials described the situation as an immediate and credible danger. Dawn notes that while agents told Pannun they are investigating leads, they did not provide further information regarding the threat. This follows a February incident in which an Indian national pleaded guilty in a US federal court to plotting Pannun's assassination.",
