"summary": "The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cleared promotion arrears for over 56,000 teachers, following concerns over delays in payments to promoted staff. On October 15, 2026, 49,725 teachers received their payments along with arrears dating back to January 1, 2026, while the remaining 6,278 teachers were paid in September 2026, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 56,003. GES assured affected staff that the remaining payment process would be completed once the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) reopened its portal for validation and payment. The Service expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, teacher unions, and the CAGD for their support.",
