"account": "Former Vice-President and NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia urged targeted support for Ghanaian artisans during a meeting with the Ghana Artisans Association in Accra on Thursday. This included access to affordable credit, solar power, professional training, and certification to address the challenges faced by their businesses. The gathering comprised representatives from various trades including hairdressers, tailors, barbers, and construction industry operators. Dr Bawumia emphasized the potential for artisans to create jobs, particularly for young people, and contribute to local economic growth. He stressed that empowering artisans should focus on bolstering their capacity for growth, rather than merely supporting individual livelihoods. Key interventions he advocated for included adopting solar power to reduce energy costs, improving access to credit for business expansion and the acquisition of modern equipment, and simplifying the tax system to ease the financial burden on small-scale operators. These measures, he argued, would help artisans enhance their skills, increase productivity, and better meet evolving industry demands.",
