"account": "Singapore's environment minister, Grace Fu, announced legal action against seven Indonesian firms responsible for contributing to Singapore's worsening air quality due to transboundary haze. The air quality in the city-state continued to deteriorate, with some regions recording very unhealthy levels. The notices, issued after investigations, require the Indonesian companies to deploy firefighting personnel, cease burning activities, and submit action plans to combat and prevent future fires on their land. Fu stated that the haze conditions are expected to persist for a few weeks longer, but improvement is anticipated by early November as winds become lighter and less likely to bring smoke from Sumatra or Kalimantan. To support vulnerable Singaporeans, N95 masks will be distributed through 37 vending machines across the island.",
"summary": "The environment agency will issue notices to the firms to extinguish fires on land owned or occupied by them and prevent the fires from spreading.",
