"summary": "Former Police Scotland sergeant Campbell Petrie has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping two women and committing sexual and physical offences against them over a 17-year period. The High Court in Glasgow convicted Petrie of eight charges, including four counts of rape, between 2006 and 2023. The judge, Alistair Watson, emphasized the seriousness and persistence of Petrie's offending, noting the lasting psychological harm suffered by both victims. Following his release, Petrie will be subject to an additional three years of supervision and monitoring in the community and placed on the sex offenders register. This conviction has reignited concerns about vetting procedures within Police Scotland, as the nationwide \"historic data wash\" conducted in 2023 failed to uncover previously unknown information about Petrie.",
