"account": "On Thursday afternoon in Bend, Oregon, a 16-year-old boy opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School, killing three children and a teacher before being fatally shot by a bystander. Police Chief Mike Krantz confirmed the suspect forced his way into the school by shooting at locked doors. The three victims, aged five, eight and 11, and a 54-year-old teacher were critically injured and taken to a hospital. No connection between the attacker and the school was established. Bend Police Department spokeswoman Sheila Miller reported the first call came at 12:59 local time (19:59 GMT) about a person shooting at their car with a long gun. The attacker had been shot dead by a bystander who pursued him into the school. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek praised the heroism of the bystander who intervened to stop further loss of life. School officials announced closure for Friday as the community sought to heal.",
