"account": "Nairobi, Kenya - National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has provided an explanation for his absence from the first anniversary memorial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Junet cited his decision not to attend the memorial in Bondo, Kenya, due to the presence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on the guest list. Gachagua, according to Junet, had a history of promoting hatred and ethnic divisions, causing Junet to refuse to share a platform with him. Junet further accused Gachagua of abandoning Odinga during the 2022 General Elections and failing to attend the first anniversary commemoration. The Suna East MP also criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta for abandoning Odinga during the 2022 elections and failing to stand by his side during the memorial. Junet expressed his disappointment at having prominent guests, including a \"sponsor\" who abandoned Odinga during the commemoration, just as they had abandoned him during the 2022 elections.",
"summary": "\"I did not attend because when I looked at the list of invited guests, I saw someone called Gachagua. I said I could not sit in the same gathering with someone like that. Baba’s spirit, too, could not be present in a place associated with hatred, tribalism and other such things,\" the Suna East MP stated.",
