"summary": "The Federal Government of Nigeria has established the National Air Transport Economic Oversight Committee (NATEOC) to address high aviation taxes, charges, and fees, and to ensure compliance with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) regional aviation policy. The committee, chaired by the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Chris Najomo, will serve as the primary national coordinating platform for implementing the regional policy and monitoring progress in meeting its obligations. The committee's responsibilities include assessing compliance, identifying implementation gaps, recommending policy adjustments, and monitoring progress towards fulfilling regional aviation policy obligations. The inauguration of NATEOC comes as Nigeria seeks to implement ECOWAS Supplementary Act A/SA.2/12/24, which aims to make air travel more affordable, improve transparency in aviation services, and encourage fair competition in the regional air transport market.",
