"account": "Elon Musk and his political action committee, America PAC, have reached a settlement in two lawsuits alleging they defrauded voters in key battleground states ahead of the 2024 US presidential election. The plaintiffs claimed Musk and America PAC misled registered voters with a daily $1 million lottery-style giveaway to gather signatures for a petition backing the US Constitution. The lawsuits, filed in federal court in Austin, Texas, were set to potentially lead to high-stakes legal proceedings for Musk. The settlement, however, averts this, pending final court approval. The settlement does not disclose the financial or non-financial terms, and attorneys for the parties have declined to comment or respond to requests for details.",
"summary": "Altogether, 18 people received the $1 million payout during the run-up to Election Day in 2024 as the sweepstakes played out daily across battleground states, according to a report by the Austin American-Statesman.",
