"account": "US President Donald Trump canceled a plan to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, a convicted military base mass shooter, on Thursday, reversing a decision that drew widespread condemnation. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who had proposed the livestream, now faces criticism for the move, which was opposed by politicians, religious leaders, and foreign governments. The execution of Hasan, scheduled for December 3 at Fort Hood, Texas, will still be carried out, but will not be broadcast publicly. Hegseth and Trump had discussed the decision before it was announced, with the Pentagon spokesman stating that the secretary supports Trump's decision. The decision to cancel the livestream is seen as a blow to Hegseth, who is already facing criticism over the Iran war and its fallout. A poll found that 80% of Americans opposed the idea of livestreaming Hasan's execution.",
