"summary": "Three children and one adult were killed during a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Thursday, according to reports from CBS News, CNN, and the Jerusalem Post. The shooter, described by the Times of India as an unknown man, was shot and killed inside the school. Bend Police Department communications manager Sheila Miller stated that it is not yet confirmed who shot the suspect, noting it may have been a bystander.\n\nThe incident began when police received a 12:59 p.m. call reporting that a shooter had fired at a vehicle outside the school. The South China Morning Post reported that at least two people were hospitalized following the shooting, though their conditions were not immediately known. Subsequent emergency calls indicated the shooter had entered the building.\n\nPolice arrived on the campus within minutes, at which time the shooter went down. The Bend-La Pine school district placed the school under lockdown while authorities worked to evacuate the building room by room. Silver Rail Elementary serves approximately 450 students in grades kindergarten through fifth.",
