"account": "Ocean's 11 director Steven Soderbergh has been hired to complete the sequel to The Batman while its original director, Matt Reeves, handles personal matters. This development follows earlier reports that Reeves stepped down from the project to attend to family matters. Warner Bros. confirmed to Deadline that Soderbergh will direct the final weeks of principal photography for the superhero sequel, working closely with Reeves and the cast and crew to ensure the film's vision remains intact.\n\nSoderbergh, a respected figure in the film industry, will collaborate directly with Reeves during this process. Reeves is working remotely from his home, as reported by Deadline's Justin Kroll. Once the movie wraps, Soderbergh will hand the reins back to Reeves for post-production. The goal is to finish Reeves' original vision for the sequel, rather than introducing radical changes.\n\nDirector Soderbergh praised Reeves' work on The Batman, calling it \"stunning, intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent.\" He emphasized the importance of integrating new footage seamlessly with the existing shots to allow Reeves to complete the film as intended. Soderbergh's efficiency and attention to detail, particularly in managing budgets and shooting quickly, make him an ideal choice for this temporary replacement.\n\nThe Batman Part II, initially slated for release on February 18, 2028, has already faced several delays. Given the limited remaining shooting schedule, this change may not cause significant setbacks. Soderbergh's experience and prestigious credentials, including an Oscar for Best Director, add value to the project. The film is now expected to hit theaters in early 2028.",
