"account": "Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has apologized for publicly criticizing the club's board for a lack of investment in the transfer market following their 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. United, who finished third in the Premier League last season, are facing their worst start to a league season in 40 years. The Argentine international took aim at technical director Jason Wilcox, stating he \"100 percent\" expected more investment in the squad after United's poor transfer window.\n\nMartinez posted a social media statement earlier on Thursday, saying he had spoken out of anger and frustration at not getting the result they all wanted, but stopped short of apologizing. He met with club officials after facing criticism for putting pressure on under-fire manager Michael Carrick. In a follow-up statement, Martinez said he acknowledged his passionate nature and the intensity he brings to football. He emphasized the need for ambition, growth, and strength within the club, adding that these standards should be followed by everyone, including himself. Martinez expressed belief in his teammates, manager, and the club's leadership, stating that the path forward lies in continued collaboration, ambition, and commitment. United's next matches include a trip to Leeds and a Champions League game against Como.",
