"account": "The Detroit Lions have secured a new return specialist to bolster their roster. On Thursday, October 15th, the Lions finalized the signing of veteran wide receiver DeAndre Carter. Carter spent four games with the Cleveland Browns during the 2023 season and boasts a wealth of experience in the NFL, having played eight seasons. His career averages of 23.6 yards per kick return and 9.7 yards per punt return showcase his proficiency in the return game. The Lions' loss of returner Tom Kennedy to a season-ending knee injury on Sunday, October 11th, necessitated a swift search for a replacement. With Kennedy handling all punt returns and sharing kick-return duties with Jacob Saylors, the Lions had to look outside for help. Carter, along with Steven Sims, was among the return men who underwent workouts with the team. Amon-Ra St. Brown, who stepped in for Kennedy against the Cardinals, may continue his role in handling returns for the remainder of the season. The Lions' head coach, Dan Campbell, confirmed that they would seek an outside perspective to address the team's return needs. DeAndre Carter, a Sacramento State alumnus, has contributed to ten teams throughout his career, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported on the signing.",
