The assailants, believed to be Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, targeted the base in Guzamala Local Government Area, located 120-130 kilometers north of the state capital, Maiduguri. The militants launched a barrage of gunfire against the military compound, sparking a prolonged engagement that lasted several hours. Despite the attackers attempting to inflict heavy casualties and damage military assets, including vehicles, troops managed to repel the assault. However, the insurgents managed to destroy several military vehicles and weapons. The local government chairman, Lawan Sheriff, confirmed the incident but did not disclose casualty numbers. This attack highlights the ongoing security concerns in the Lake Chad region, which has seen numerous militant assaults.",
