"account": "Four ANCYL members were killed and several more injured in a shooting incident on Sophangisa Street in Katlehong on Tuesday evening, 13 October 2026. The alleged perpetrator, Fani John Sibeko, appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 15 October for a brief hearing, with his case postponed to 22 October for a formal bail application. Sibeko faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a public space, and failing to secure firearms. ANCYL Ekurhuleni regional chairperson Simphiwe Patose condemned the incident, describing Sibeko's court appearance as an emotional moment for the victims' families, as the motive remains unclear. The party's political leadership called for a thorough investigation and warned against irregularities, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent process. The organisation also raised suspicions of a possible political motive, noting that the victims were returning from a memorial service for fallen ANC member Jeanette Magugu. Reports suggest Sibeko previously belonged to the EFF before leaving in 2022, but the EFF has distanced itself from him. Afrika Mayibuye Movement, led by Floyd Shivambu, rejected claims of Sibeko's affiliation with the party and announced an internal investigation into his background.",
