"account": "Samuel Nartey George, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, has announced that five new telecommunications cell sites in the Ashanti Region will be activated by the end of October 2026. During an inspection of these sites in the Sekyere Afram Plains District, George highlighted plans to extend telephony services to three additional communities in the area. The Rural Telephony Project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing network coverage to communities that mainstream operators may deem commercially unattractive. The Minister commended the district's Member of Parliament for advocating improved telecommunications services and affirmed the government's commitment to addressing connectivity gaps nationwide. George also revealed that the government is partnering with MTN Ghana to deploy 800 additional telephony sites across the country, stressing the importance of upgrading rural networks from 3G to 4G to prevent the digital divide from widening as Ghana moves towards 5G deployment.",
