"account": "Nigerian Army troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have eradicated terrorist camps in the Lakurawa area of Sokoto State, eliminating several militants and seizing weapons, according to a statement from the Joint Task Force North West. The operation, carried out on October 15, 2026, saw troops from Sector 2 moving through known terrorist strongholds around Alela, Bilange, and Kandam villages before reaching Waria Forest. Upon encountering the terrorists, the military engaged them in combat, swiftly overpowering them due to their superior firepower. This forced the insurgents to abandon their positions and flee into the forest. The troops then pursued the fleeing terrorists, eliminating more of them. As a result, the operation led to the destruction of the camps and associated support structures. The military also recovered five motorcycles and weapons during the clearance operation. The Theatre Command emphasized that troops have kept a strong presence in the area and are continuing clearance operations to prevent terrorists' movement and enhance security in nearby communities. The statement commended the troops' bravery, resilience, and consistent efforts, urging the public to assist ongoing operations by reporting any suspicious movements or activities in their neighborhoods.",
