"account": "U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra has stated that American officials are closely monitoring Canadian politicians for potential election interference prior to the upcoming midterm elections next month. During an interview, Hoekstra referenced political advertisements run by the province of Ontario in 2025, which some could be interpreted as interference. Additionally, Hoekstra cited recent remarks made by Industry Minister Mélanie Joly and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, suggesting that their statements might also constitute interference. Hoekstra warned Canadian politicians to refrain from meddling in American politics during the weeks leading up to the midterms. Trudeau had previously criticized the Trump administration for exacerbating prices for American consumers and not benefitting the country, particularly in its conflicts with an old and valued ally. Joly strongly denied any involvement in election interference, asserting that Canada would never engage in such behavior and would never accept it being done to themselves.",
