"summary": "Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed grave concerns over the destructive impact of illegal mining, particularly on rivers like the Jimi, which he warns could result in dire consequences for communities, including the birth of deformed babies. During an inspection of the severely degraded Jimi River and the Jimi Dam near Obuasi, the Asantehene highlighted the urgent need to halt irresponsible mining practices, which have already led to river siltation and threaten the water supply for over 200,000 people in Obuasi and Adansi. The Asantehene's impassioned plea came as he witnessed miners at the Tasliman site diverting the river course, emphasizing the far-reaching implications of such actions on the health and livelihoods of local populations.",
