"account": "The Lagos State Government has announced that traffic will be diverted on the Independence Bridge in Lagos Island due to urgent asphalt repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works. The repair work is set to begin on Friday, October 16, 2026, and will continue through Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, 2026. Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun, stated that both inbound and outbound lanes will be affected, with traffic management measures in place to minimize inconvenience for motorists. The government urged motorists to plan their journeys and consider alternative routes during the repair period. LASTMA officers will be deployed to manage traffic around the affected sections of the bridge to ensure smooth vehicle movement and minimize delays.
