"account": "The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion on the Independence Bridge in Lagos Island due to urgent repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works. The repair works, which include asphalt resurfacing, will commence at night on Friday, October 16, 2026, and will continue throughout Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, respectively. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced this in a Wednesday statement, urging motorists to prepare for potential traffic disruptions during the repair period. Traffic management arrangements will involve the partial closure of bridge sections, with one lane accessible at a time to facilitate movement. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys, consider alternative routes, and expect traffic management officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, to be present to regulate traffic and minimize inconvenience.",
