"account": "Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson will be sentenced today for the rape and sexual assault of two young girls, and the sexual assault of a second girl. The 63-year-old was found guilty of 18 charges, including rape, indecent assault, and gross indecency, spanning over two decades from 1985 to 2008. The trial at Newry Crown Court heard that Donaldson's victims were primary school age when the abuse took place. Judge Paul Ramsey warned Donaldson that he could face a lengthy prison sentence. Donaldson is currently in custody at Maghaberry Prison while victim impact statements and other documentation are compiled for sentencing. Both of Donaldson's victims attended a recent pre-sentence hearing, where they listened as their abuser was returned to his cells. Donaldson's barrister acknowledged that his conviction has effectively ended his public life achievements. Donaldson's wife, Eleanor, was found to have aided and abetted his offenses during a trial of the facts. She did not attend the trial due to mental health concerns and will be dealt with separately in a future hearing. The judge has the option to impose a treatment order, a supervision order, or an absolute discharge, and both Donaldson and his wife have indicated their intention to appeal the verdict.",
