"summary": "The National chairmen and secretaries of six opposition political parties in Nigeria have convened consultations with presidential candidates of their respective parties, aiming to explore a common strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. The discussions involve the African Democratic Congress, Allied People’s Movement, Nigeria Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party, Peoples Democratic Party, and Peoples Redemption Party. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Donald Duke are among the consulted opposition leaders. While no agreement on a single presidential candidate was announced, the consultations are seen as a step towards establishing common ground among opposition parties to defend multiparty democracy and protect the interests of Nigerians. The move comes amid efforts to overcome political differences and develop a viable challenge to the ruling APC and President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking re-election in 2027.",
