"account": "Former Israeli security chief Ronen Bar has filed a defamation lawsuit against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel's upcoming Oct 27 election. The lawsuit alleges that Netanyahu is lying to deflect blame for the Oct 7 Hamas attack, which Bar claims was due to Netanyahu's policies over the years that increased the threat posed by terrorist organizations in Gaza. Bar alleges that Netanyahu knew the allegations against him were false and sought to divert attention from his own responsibility for the attack. Bar's lawsuit seeks damages of three million shekels (around US$968,500) from Netanyahu.",
"summary": "Ronen Bar accuses the Israeli prime minister of 'lying to cover himself' and said it was slanderous to accuse him of 'criminal failures' over Hamas's Oct 7, 2023 attack.",
