"summary": "Iran has ramped up its attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz ahead of the US midterm elections, according to Semafor. The heightened activity has made October one of the most violent months in the waterway since the war began. Two Emirati cargo vessels were sunk in the past 24 hours, with Iranian officials attributing the strikes to Tehran's attempt to exploit US President Donald Trump's political vulnerability. The lack of a strong US response has been described as \"remarkable\" by an analyst, with some suggesting that Trump's preference is to join Saudi Arabia's strikes after the midterms.",
