"account": "In July 2025, Sally Rooney, the 35-year-old Irish author, announced she could no longer sell her books in the UK due to her support for the banned protest group Palestine Action. The ban, which took effect on July 5, 2025, classified membership or support for the direct-action group as a criminal offence, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.\n\nRooney had previously expressed her intention to continue supporting Palestine Action, stating it was not a proscribed group in the Republic of Ireland. However, following the UK's decision to ban the group, her publisher, Faber, determined it could no longer supply her work within the country. In a statement, Rooney acknowledged that fulfilling contracts to publish her work in the UK could now constitute a serious criminal offence.\n\nThe decision to withdraw Rooney's books from the UK market came after a process of consultation and deliberation, with her full agreement. Despite the controversy, Rooney has been transparent about her beliefs and intentions, and is prepared to accept the consequences. Rooney's bestselling novels \"Conversations With Friends,\" \"Normal People,\" \"Beautiful World, Where Are You?\" and \"Intermezzo\" have been adapted into television series.",
