"summary": "Former Sierra Leone Vice-President Samuel Sam-Sumana has expressed profound gratitude to Nigeria for its role in restoring peace and stability to his country. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN) in Abuja, Sam-Sumana stated that the contributions of Nigerian troops would remain indelible in Sierra Leone’s history.\n\nAccording to This Day, Sam-Sumana acknowledged that both military personnel and civilians paid the ultimate price during the conflict. He described Nigeria as a big brother in West Africa and noted that the country provided troops and other forms of assistance to help Sierra Leone regain stability.\n\nSam-Sumana also called for economic independence across Africa. He suggested that such independence is necessary to discourage young people from migrating to America and Europe in search of better living conditions and opportunities.",
