"account": "Zimbabwean author Simbarashe Kundizeza has asserted that he penned his prize-winning short story, \"The Blue Fighter,\" despite an Atlantic article claiming the piece was almost entirely AI-generated. This assertion followed Vauhini Vara's article, published five days after the Caine prize announcement on October 6th, which identified the story as potentially AI-produced via Pangram software. Kundizeza's statement on social media affirmed that \"The Blue Fighter\" was his original work, written without AI assistance. Vara, who highlighted stylistic discrepancies between Kundizeza's earlier and \"The Blue Fighter,\" defended her stance against AI use in literary creation. She noted that false positives were infrequent, even for non-native English writers, according to Pangram's research. However, she acknowledged the limited third-party validation of AI detection tools' accuracy. The Caine prize organization acknowledged receiving the allegations and pledged to investigate, emphasizing the importance of supporting authors during such scrutiny.",
