"account": "The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his remarks during a Senate debate on the National Suicide Prevention Bill. The party denounced Akpabio's \"seven virgins\" comment as insensitive and inappropriate for a discussion on mental health. They also condemned his reported support for imprisoning individuals who attempt suicide, arguing that lawmakers should approach such cases as a mental health concern rather than a criminal offense. The ADC stated that the Senate President's remark risked introducing religious stereotypes into the debate and trivialized a matter of life and death. They urged lawmakers to prioritize support, access to mental healthcare, and the abolition of punitive laws governing suicide attempts, which they described as a colonial-era inheritance.",
