"summary": "The United States Treasury Department reported on Wednesday that the administration has lifted sanctions against Jorge Rodríguez, the president of Venezuela’s National Assembly. Rodríguez, a 60-year-old psychiatrist, has led the legislature since 2021 and has previously served as communications minister and vice president under the late Hugo Chavez.\n\nAccording to Investing.com, Rodríguez is the brother of acting president Delcy Rodríguez, who took power earlier this year following the US ousting of President Nicolas Maduro. Rodríguez has led the government's negotiating team in discussions with the United States and the Venezuelan opposition. He was scheduled to begin a new round of talks with a faction of the opposition on Wednesday. These US-backed discussions aim to reform the country's political system, including its electoral authority and top court, ahead of elections.",
