The $1.5 million prize pool competition will feature teams from the National Women's Soccer League and the Gainbridge Super League. The single-elimination event will serve as a national championship and qualify teams for the CONCACAF W Champions Cup. U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone stated that the competition could open to amateur and lower division professional teams, similar to the men's U.S. Open Cup. The tournament aims to capitalize on the popularity of women's soccer, grow with the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, and provide high-level competition for club teams, fostering player development.",
