"account": "Toronto police plan to provide an update on Wednesday concerning an investigation involving two Canadian Armed Forces personnel accused of 49 criminal charges. Chief Myron Demkiw and Superintendent Joe Matthews will address reporters at 11 a.m. ET, a week after the arrests of Bombardier Sachintha Fernando and James Moreau. The 22-year-old Fernando and the 29-year-old Moreau were apprehended on August 11 and are charged with offenses such as kidnapping for ransom, forcible confinement, and using a firearm during a serious crime. Moreover, Fernando faces additional charges related to unauthorized firearm possession, property obtained illegally, and careless storage of ammunition. Both individuals are members of the 7th Toronto Regiment, according to a Department of National Defence spokesperson. Moreau enlisted as a reservist in the Canadian Army in March 2018, while Fernando joined as a reservist in January 2020. Fernando has never been deployed on a CAF mission, whereas Moreau participated in Operation LASER in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both soldiers were relieved of their military duties following their arrests and had restricted access to military assets, facilities, and bases. They remain part of the military until the conclusion of an administrative review, a formal procedure to evaluate potential impacts on a member's continued service while ensuring fair treatment.",
