"account": "The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) joined industry tributes to actor Mfana Jones Hlophe, who passed away on October 7th at the age of 55. Hlophe's partner found him unwell upon their return home and attempted to stabilize his condition but to no avail. He was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. While it is believed that he passed away on the way to the hospital, the official cause of death has not been confirmed. SAFTAs expressed their condolences to Hlophe's family, friends, and colleagues, highlighting his extensive résumé which includes memorable roles in Sarafina!, Soul City, Generations: The Legacy, Uzalo, Imbewu: The Seed, and Kwa Baba. Hlophe's journey began with a matriculation in 1987 and participation in the Mbongeni Ngema School of Art, before being cast in the second company of Sarafina!, which toured Europe in 1989. He went on to work with the Market Theatre, starred in Ipi Ntombi, and became well-known for his roles as Jabu in Soul City and Bra Nimrod Thabede in Generations: The Legacy. The industry mourns the loss of Hlophe, whose work spanned more than four decades and left an indelible mark on South African storytelling.",
