"account": "The Detroit Red Wings may be on the verge of securing a seven-year, $13 million per season contract extension with star forward Alex DeBrincat, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. The potential agreement would be worth around $91 million over the duration of the contract, making it one of the most significant financial commitments in the franchise's history.\n\nEntering the final season of his four-year, $31.5 million deal with Detroit, DeBrincat was seeking between $12 million and $14 million annually before the upcoming unrestricted free agency. The reported $13 million figure aligns precisely with the midpoint of that range. The extension would provide the Red Wings with long-term stability on the wing, avoiding another major contract situation that could become a distraction for a team struggling to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.\n\nWhile the contract has not yet been officially announced, the reported progress suggests that Detroit is actively attempting to lock up one of its most important offensive players for the foreseeable future. This move could bring much-needed optimism to a team dealing with uncertainty surrounding Dylan Larkin, Simon Edvinsson, and the broader direction of the franchise.",
