"summary": "The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the immediate suspension of Zakaria Abdulai, the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region. The directive, which awaits the outcome of a full investigation, follows allegations of sexual misconduct involving a female student. According to GBC Ghana, Adom Online, and MyJoyOnline Ghana, the allegations follow an investigation by JoyNews and journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni.\n\nThe Minister has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service to take steps to suspend Mr. Abdulai, while also requesting that the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters commence investigations into the matter. GBC Ghana reports that the Ministry issued a press release on October 13, 2026, signed by Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed, stating that such conduct will not be tolerated in any educational institution.\n\nThe Ministry emphasized the responsibility of teachers to protect the students entrusted to their care and reiterated a commitment to ensuring schools remain safe environments. While the allegations are considered serious, GBC Ghana notes they have not yet been established.",
