"summary": "According to a preseason poll released on October 13, Northern Iowa and Drake women's basketball teams are expected to contend for the middle positions in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) standings this upcoming season. Northern Iowa was ranked fourth, while Drake was placed fifth in the poll, which is determined by MVC head coaches, communications directors, and a media panel. The poll only revealed the top six teams out of the 11-school league, with Murray State being the favorite, followed by Illinois State and Belmont. UIC was predicted to finish sixth. The 2026-27 regular season is set to commence on November 2, with six of the league's teams participating.",
