"summary": "Cornell University has suspended all fraternity social events and parties for the remainder of the 2026-2027 academic year. According to The Korea Times, President Michael Kotlikoff announced the measure to allow for a thorough review of fraternity life to determine how it can safely continue. Punch reports the suspension follows outcry regarding an alleged gang rape at a Chi Phi fraternity house.\n\nThe incident, which occurred in 2024, is detailed in a graphic civil lawsuit filed last month. The accuser alleged she was pressured to take ketamine and was raped by seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity. The Korea Times notes that following the initial allegations, Cornell shut down the fraternity and temporarily suspended the accused students, two of whom were subsequently expelled.\n\nIn response to mounting outrage over the university's handling of the sexual assault allegations, officials announced Tuesday that the New York State Police will be given a role in investigating sex crimes on campus, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.",
