"account": "Berlin - The head of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Chancellor Friedrich Merz, reiterated on Monday that he rejects accusations from the Social Democratic Party (SPD) regarding the resignation of Labor Minister Bärbel Bas. According to several attendees, Merz referred to \"unfair allegations\" made by individuals he would not tolerate. He did initially express sympathy for Bas and praised her for her work. Bas announced her resignation as Labor Minister and SPD leader on Monday, following the death of her stepdaughter. In her resignation letter, she criticized \"public attacks on me, unfortunately including from the ranks of the coalition partner.\" SPD leader Lars Klingbeil called these attacks \"disgraceful\" and SPD Chairwoman Manuela Schwesig described them as \"inhumane.\" The SPD has not provided specific examples of public attacks. Within the Union, the remarks have generated considerable resentment. One Bundestag deputy has already demanded that Schwesig apologize.",
