"account": "President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to allocate GH¢300 million in the 2027 national budget towards constructing 250 apartments for police officers. The initiative aims to alleviate overcrowding in police barracks across Ghana. Speaking at the commissioning of a state-of-the-art ward facility at the Police Hospital, Mahama emphasized that the proposed accommodations would enhance the welfare and working conditions of police personnel.\n\nThe allocation forms part of the government's commitment to improve the overall well-being of police personnel. Mahama requested the Minister of Finance to incorporate the funds for the new apartments in the 2027 budget. Additionally, the government plans to deliver a batch of 40 armored vehicles to the Police Service, further bolstering their operational safety.\n\nTo protect officers deployed on missions, the administration is also procuring additional body armor. Mahama highlighted that these measures were taken to ensure the safety and welfare of police personnel while enhancing their ability to safeguard the nation. Moreover, he announced plans to complete the expansion of the Police Hospital, which has been marred by disagreements and cost overruns involving the contractor.\n\nWith the completion of the expansion project, the hospital will have 106 additional beds, bringing its total capacity to over 300 beds. The enhanced facilities include a 12-bed intensive care unit, an accident and emergency center, 11 consulting rooms, and four pediatric consulting rooms. The project will also provide state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scan equipment, three general surgical theaters, an orthopedic theater, and an endoscopy unit.\n\nTo support emergency response and patient transportation, President Mahama donated two ambulances. He emphasized that access to proper healthcare is vital in ensuring officers remain fit for duty and underlines the hospital's crucial role in treating officers injured in the line of duty. Mahama urged the hospital management to uphold stringent hygiene standards and patient care.",
