"account": "Two years ago, Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina, including Asheville, leaving many residents without homes. Amidst this turmoil, indie rock singer-songwriter Indigo de Souza lost nearly all of her possessions when her house in Marshall, North Carolina, was flooded. She had been working on a new album, fully mixed and mastered, with a cover painted by her mother. However, after leaving her label, Loma Vista Records, de Souza is now trying to regain control of her unreleased work. She has begun a GoFundMe campaign to raise the $90,000 needed to purchase the rights to release the album independently. De Souza explains that her decision to sign with Loma Vista was a mistake, as the relationship was not aligned with her values. She felt stifled, facing challenges in creating and managing her mental health while dealing with business, money, and bureaucracy. The indie artist is eager to release the album independently, offering to repay every cent invested in its creation. So far, her GoFundMe campaign has raised just over 10% of its goal, with less than 24 hours since its launch.",
